We think we’ve kept you waiting long enough, so are you ready for not one, not two, but three #Abertoir2019 announcements?!
2019 marks 100 years since the birth of Donald Pleasence, an absolute giant of UK screen acting. We’ll be marking the occasion with a specially curated exhibition of film posters and lobby materials and, of course, film screenings – including one of his most popular films, Death Line - and what better reason to invite Gary Sherman back to Aberystwyth than to celebrate what would have been Pleasence’s 100th birthday?
That’s right, we’re pleased to announce that director Gary Sherman will be making his second visit to Aberystwyth - and his first to the festival in person - in order to join us for what’s sure to be a very special screening of the brilliant Death Line in a brand new remaster - as well as some other goodies which we'll reveal more about soon!
We’re also very excited to announce our second guest of honour – Norman J. Warren! He’ll share with us some brilliant stories in a career-spanning interview with none other than writer Tristan Thompson. In honour of our sci-fi horror theme this year we are, of course, at long last bringing Norman J. Warren’s masterwork, Inseminoid, to the big screen, which will also be a shiny new remaster!
We’ll have some film news for you soon but to whet your appetite we’re pleased to also reveal that we’ll be screening the brand new feature-length documentary The Magnificent Obsession of Michael Reeves, which features some very familiar faces and celebrates a real icon of British horror.
