Journalist Frazer Truick (Craig Fairbrass) investigates the mysterious death of the brother of trainee journalist Rachel Morris (Rowena King). Delving deeper, Truick becomes convinced that the tragedy was murder, committed by a bizarre religious cult. But as the evidence unfolds, things take on a more sinister and potentially lethal significance for the reporter, as he becomes embroiled in devil worship, witchcraft and ultimately human sacrifice!

Drawing inspiration from The Wicker Man, Rosemary’s Baby and others, Darklands offers a twist on the expected folk horror tropes by setting its tale in post-industrial Port Talbot. The film marks a significant moment in for Welsh horror and helped turn the tide for the waning 90s British horror scene. This is the film’s second Aberystwyth premiere, screening at Abertoir in a brand new director’s cut.
