Tiger Stripes

The first amongst her friends to hit puberty, 12 year old Zaffan (Zafreen Zairizal) discovers a terrifying secret about her body. Ostracised by her community, Zaffan fights back, learning that to be free she must embrace the body she feared, emerging as a proud, strong woman.
Tiger Stripes has been a breakthrough hit this year, touring major festivals across the world, winning the Critic’s Week Grand Prize at Cannes, and even being chosen as Malaysia’s ‘Best International Feature Film’ hopeful for the next Oscars. At its core it’s a fierce coming-of-age film, and its body-horror credentials – though relatively light-touch – firmly place the film in a canon of horror works that have come before it.
