To celebrate half a century of horror films in the Welsh language, we’re delighted to take part in a celebration by Storiel in collaboration with Pontio and Matchbox Cine. Eryri Arswydus, a celebration of horror films created by the Welsh Film Board and directed by Wil Aaron, takes place Saturday, 25 October at Storiel and Pontio in Bangor.

To start the celebrations at 2pm at Storiel, there will be a discussion with Wil and Carys Aaron as they reminisce about creating and directing 1975’s Gwaed ar y Sêr (Blood on the Stars), Nia Edwards Behi from the National Library of Wales’ Screen and Sound Archive, and co-director of the Abertoir, will chair this talk and  provide context to the world of horror films in the mid ’70s and the significance of Gwaed ar y Sêr to Welsh culture. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the 1981 film O’r Ddaear Hen (From the Old Earth), which was partially filmed at Bangor University.

Live translation will be available at this event.

Following the discussion, everyone is welcome to join at Pontio to watch Gwaed ar y Sêr with an alternative soundtrack created by producer and Welsh Music Prize winner Don Leisure.

To conclude the celebration, there will be a chance to watch O’r Ddaear Hen.

Tickets for the celebration are available through the Pontio website.
