A village girl, Nok, travels to the Lao capital, Vientiane, to care for her rich cousin Ana, who has lost her sight and gained the inexplicable ability to communicate with the dead.
After proudly screening the UK premiere of Mattie Do’s Chanthaly in 2013, it’s with immense pleasure that we’re screening her second feature, Dearest Sister, which has really been making waves, including selection at the BFI London Film Festival. The film successfully manages to blend social commentary with genuine scares, and make leaps forward for Lao cinema.
We dedicate this screening to the memory of the wonderful and adorable Mango the whippet, who we fell in love with ever since Chanthaly!
