The parents of a missing child relocate with their young daughter to a small village near Mt. Jang. Hee-yeon (Yung Jung-ah) still mourns the disappearance of her son, but finds a strange comfort in her new surroundings and in looking after a little girl who herself seems lost. However, strange sights and sounds are apparent in the foothills of Mt. Jang, and Hee-yeon must do what she can to save her crumbling family.
Jung Huh (Hide and Seek) returns with his sophomore film, and it’s another nail biting slice of slick K-horror, drawing on Korean folklore to enliven a traditional ghost story set-up. Featuring a moving performance from Yung Jung-ah (A Tale of Two Sisters) as a bereaved mother, the film’s emotional core leads to a conclusion as devastating as it is terrifying.
