Mari is turning 17 and to celebrate she heads to the city with her friend Phyllis to a rock concert. But their night of celebration becomes an ordeal after they are captured, tortured and killed by a group of criminals on the run. When those criminals seek shelter with Mari’s parents…revenge is on the cards.

The Last House on the Left launched the careers of both director Wes Craven and producer Sean S. Cunningham, both of whom of course went on to make their indelible marks on the genre. The Last House on the Left is a raw and wild exploitation pic which belies the politics of the people who made it: a searing condemnation of violence which never shies away from brutality. Not for the faint-hearted, The Last House on the Left is as relevant as it ever was, with its surprising interjections on feminism, pacifism, class warfare and power structures.
