After Joy leaves an abusive relationship, she needs to regroup. Stricken with flashbacks of her volatile ex six months later, her best friend Carmen encourages her to go on a special hiking retreat in the Rocky Mountains to heal. Led by a trauma specialist, the group of hikers trek deeper into the wilderness and start to realise there might be something darker following them than their traumas.
Dark Nature’s sincere and honest dedication to its themes and characters immediately makes it stand out, as does its position as a film made by a Métis writer/director. Led by a cast of female characters, director Berkley Brady has created a thrilling, survivalist horror film with a strong, powerful heart behind it.
